Your Role
As an Event Manager, you are a dynamic delivery specialist within the News Live engine, accountable for the seamless execution of small-to-medium scale events across our iconic brands. This role requires an organised, high-energy executor ready to take the next step in their career. You will thrive on the details and turn a project plan into a world-class live experience. Reporting into the team leadership, you will lead on smaller activations while collaborating as a core member of the team on larger-scale projects, ensuring every touchpoint reflects our world-renowned journalism.
Day to day You Will
- Take ownership of assigned events, moving from initial brief through to execution and strategic post‑event analysis.
- Create and manage detailed project timelines, ensuring all critical milestones are met by the wider team.
- Act as a primary contact for event stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Collaborate with designers and agencies to align production with the creative vision of our brands.
- Develop financial acumen by managing forecasting, billing, and spend reconciliation to ensure project success.
- Offer creative solutions to logistical challenges, acting as a trusted advisor on event feasibility and propositions.
- Build trust with internal teams like Editorial, Commercial, and Marketing to provide guidance on production.
- Negotiate with suppliers and venues to secure high‑quality services that drive value.
- Utilise project management tools like Smartsheet and Slack daily to maintain real‑time transparency.
- Lead on‑site delivery, overseeing stakeholders, suppliers, and setup to ensure a perfect attendee experience.
What we’re looking for from you
- Proven experience in organising events and a readiness to lead your own projects.
- Financial literacy, with experience managing project budgets and a desire to own the bottom line.
- A passion for media, with a demonstrable understanding of how live events bring journalism to life.
- Exceptional multitasking skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- A collaborative spirit, enjoying work within diverse project groups and internal departments.
- Clear communication, capable of producing regular reports on evaluation, ticket sales, and feedback.
- Creative problem‑solving, applied to the unique logistical challenges of live events.
- Flexibility to travel and work evenings or weekends as required by the event calendar.
