Java Developer

We’re working with a leading global tech organisation looking for a Senior Java Engineer. This role is focused on building scalable back end solutions, problem‑solving, and thinking beyond just code into system and product impact.

Key Information

• Contract: Until end of the year
• Start date: ASAP
• Day rate: Competitive!
• Inside IR35
• Hybrid: Leeds (2 days per week in the office)

Requirements

• Strong Java + Spring Boot background
• Proven experience in back end engineering (APIs, microservices, distributed systems)
• Ability to design and deliver solutions, not just implement tickets
• Experience working across end-to-end systems with an understanding of wider architecture
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think in terms of “what and why,” not just how
• Comfortable working in collaborative engineering teams
• Strong communication skills (ability to clearly explain technical decisions and thinking)

Desirable

• Exposure to front end or full-stack environments (not essential)
• Experience working in modern engineering environments where automation/AI is evolving development practices

Interview Process

• Discussing your approach to problem-solving and system design
• Demonstrating your back end expertise (Java/Spring)
• Talking through how you’ve contributed to end-to-end solutions and architectural decisions
• Collaborating with engineers to explain your thinking and approach clearly
