About the Role
The Insight Application Team sits within the wider Product Insight & Ideation team in Propositions at Cambridge English and works cross-functionally to deliver on our mission to help shape the future of English by bridging the gap between research and decision-making. Our work takes place at the intersection of research and practice, and we work proactively to ensure that English can translate the highest quality educational insights from around the world into strategy, product development (assessment and learning), the iteration of existing products, teacher training and services, and educational guidance and frameworks.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about ensuring that teachers and learners worldwide have access to high-quality, evidence-based English language education. If you are inspired to think critically about how English language teaching (ELT) must adapt to ever-changing societal needs, technological advancements, and employment trajectories, you will thrive in this role. The focus is to keep abreast of the latest research and evidence in ELT and effectively apply these insights to innovate new education products and strategy.
What you’ll be doing
- Proactively seek out the latest educational insights and trends globally, specifically related to areas in English language teaching, learning and assessment, including emerging technologies, socio‑emotional skills curricula, or teacher professional development.
- Translate educational and/or market insights into tangible propositions for English, such as designing new products, refining existing products or providing teacher support.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with other colleagues focused on research and development within English to maximise impact and strategic alignment.
- Commission external experts to support our work, including writing project briefs, setting timelines and quality‑assuring deliverables.
- Recommend frameworks and best practices for content development and process improvement.
- Advise on ethical and pedagogical considerations in emerging technologies, for example AI in education.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and recommend changes to enhance customer experience for teachers, learners, parents and senior school leaders.
About You
Degree level or industry standard equivalent education with a strong understanding of teaching and learning English, either as a teacher or learner. At least 3 years of experience in educational research with a focus on ELT or teaching, and an understanding of the ELT sector, especially publishing and assessment. Good grasp of high‑quality research insights, research tools, methodologies and current developments in education. Expertise in at least two of the following areas: curriculum design, linguistics, ELT and pedagogy, educational psychology, or socio‑emotional learning.
Desirable criteria:
- Post‑graduate qualification specialising in ESOL, Education, Psychology, Applied Linguistics or a related field.
- Experience in designing educational materials and/or corpus linguistics.
