Credit Analyst / Underwriter Location: London (Hybrid)

The Role
As a result of continued growth, they are looking to bring on a Credit Analyst / Underwriter to join the team. This person will have come from a UK SME fintech lender and will know what good looks like in a fast-paced, data-driven underwriting environment.
Beyond processing applications, this is a role with real influence. You will contribute to the way the credit function is built and operated -refining workflows, feeding into risk frameworks and helping shape the decisioning process as the business scales. Builder mentality is as important as technical ability here.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end credit evaluation of SME loan applications, from financial analysis through to decision
- Identify inefficiencies in current processes and drive improvements to speed-to-decision without compromising risk quality
- Contribute to the development of credit frameworks, internal tools and operational processes
- Monitor existing SME exposures, identify early warning signs and support portfolio reporting
- Collaborate with Sales and Product teams to ensure a smooth journey from application to drawdown
- Work with data and engineering teams to support automation and improve risk models
Requirements
- 1–3 years of SME underwriting experience, gained at a UK fintech lender
- 3+ years of prior experience working at a Bank/ Consulting Firm
- Strong analytical ability across bank statements, management accounts, credit reports and balance sheets
- Able to operate at volume and make sound decisions at paceA self-starter who takes ownership and builds solutions rather than waiting for direction
- Strong communicator, comfortable dealing with internal stakeholders and customers alike
- SQL or Python experience is a plus
