Job Description:

Job Summary

The role is a fixed‑term 10‑month Senior Auditor in AuditOne, hosted by Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust. The contract ends on 31 March 2027. Applications close on 11 June 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and test existing client practices and procedures to determine effectiveness and identify more efficient ways of working.
  • Provide internal audit services for a range of NHS and non‑NHS clients, conducting financial and non‑financial audits.
  • Support the delivery of high‑quality internal audits by helping management improve internal control systems and reduce significant risks.
  • Work with Senior Internal Audit Managers and Principal Auditors to secure acceptance of findings by client managers.
  • Demonstrate conformance to the AuditOne Way standards at all times.

Education and Qualification

  • Working towards a C.C.A.B / CMIIA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of internal audit experience, preferably in the public sector.
  • Minimum educational standard of A level or equivalent.

Desirable: Part qualified C.C.A.B / CMIIA or equivalent; experience in risk management, governance, finance/business systems and project management.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.
  • Proficiency in internal audit methods and techniques, including risk‑based audit.
  • Knowledge of finance and non‑financial NHS areas and Nolan principles.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).

Desirable: Experience with IDEA, NHS structures, systems and processes; risk management, corporate governance, project management, IT and counter‑fraud.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient IT skills and computer literacy.
  • Strong analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Effective negotiation, persuasive and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Clear and factual reporting ability.
  • Time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.

Desirable: Decision making, presentation, staff management, risk management and project management skills.
