Salary: Band 8, £36,066 – £41,028

Location: Agile, Middle Engine Lane and home working. (Expected to move to Cobalt Business Park Summer 2027)

Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week, permanent

As a Public Insight Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality analytical and technical service that helps the organisation better understand the experiences, perceptions, and needs of our communities and service users. You will gather, analyse and interpret a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data to provide meaningful insight that supports evidence-based decision making and drives continuous improvement across policing services.

Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, you will translate complex data into clear, accessible insight that informs strategy, operational delivery and service design. Your work will directly contribute to improving outcomes for the public, ensuring that the voice of communities is reflected in how services are developed and delivered, and supporting the Force in building trust, confidence and legitimacy within the communities it serves.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee and coordinate daily activity of public insight staff, managing workloads to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Implement standards and protocols for the Contact Unit through quality checks on completed interview records and data input, identifying patterns and trends to ensure reliability and accuracy of data collection.
  • Support the design, delivery, and review of telephone and online surveys aligned to stakeholder needs.
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior managers and staff in relation to research techniques that ensure appropriate data collection and analysis to meet the aims and objectives of research.
  • Deliver research using qualitative and quantitative methods to inform improvements and meet organisational needs.
  • Coordinate complex statistical analysis of large datasets, using significance testing and correlation to identify trends, drivers, and insights.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree educated (or equivalent experience) with strong analytical skills to identify themes, trends and issues.
  • Technical competencies in a range of analytical software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, BI products) to design and build user friendly, informative performance products to inform decision making and performance discussions.
  • High level of planning and organising.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability, identifying opportunities to enhance performance and service delivery.
  • Committed to team development, including identifying and supporting ongoing training needs.
  • Highly effective communicator with strong influencing skills, able to present information clearly and with impact.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build and maintain professional networks.
  • Demonstrates accountability, taking ownership of decisions and actions.

Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period. If you are successful, you will have a six-month probation period and will be unable to apply for any other post advertised internally or externally.
