We’re seeking a Specialist Investment Operations professional to support business areas with day‑to‑day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution. The role will collaborate across teams, identify improvement opportunities, and implement procedures and controls to mitigate risk and boost operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support business areas with day‑to‑day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations in operational processes.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain efficiency.
- Develop reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to senior stakeholders.
- Identify industry trends and best practices to enhance banking operations.
- Participate in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead a team performing complex tasks, setting objectives, coaching employees, conducting performance appraisals, and determining reward outcomes.
- Consult on complex issues and advise People Leaders on escalated issue resolution.
- Identify and develop policies and procedures to strengthen controls and support governance.
- Own risk management and strengthen controls related to the work performed.
- Coordinate closely with other functions to support business activity and strategy.
- Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and influence stakeholders.
- As a Specialist Investment Operations, manage Private Equity and Hedge Fund activity, drive automation, and implement process optimisation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Essential: Proven experience managing Private Equity and/or Hedge Fund activity.
- Strong stakeholder‑management skills with the ability to influence, challenge, and build effective partnerships at senior levels.
- Excellent critical‑thinking and decision‑making capabilities, particularly in high‑risk and time‑sensitive situations.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, delivery, and change initiatives aligned to business objectives.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, precision, and consistently high‑quality outputs.
- Strong knowledge of global financial markets, including capital markets, derivatives, private markets, and OTC products.
- Understanding of financial services regulations (e.g., SRD2, CASS, CBI, JFSC, GCMA, Companies Act).
- Experience delivering strategic change, automation and process optimisation initiatives.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, CA, or IOC are valued.
- Key critical skills: risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology.
Location and Working Arrangements
The role is based in Glasgow, with a hybrid working model requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.
