About the Role
NPL is a world‑leading measurement science centre that underpins solutions to global challenges such as climate change, medical breakthroughs and next‑generation communications technology. Our Finance team plays a critical role in shaping NPL’s success by partnering across the organisation, creating a clear strategy and vision, monitoring performance, and providing insights that drive informed decisions and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
- Leading system and process improvement initiatives across the Finance function, identifying opportunities to automate, streamline and enhance financial workflows.
- Acting as the subject‑matter expert for Finance systems (e.g., ERP, reporting tools), overseeing configuration, upgrades and integrations.
- Providing high‑quality analysis to support decision‑making, including data modelling, reporting and insight generation.
- Working closely with Finance, IT and wider business teams to ensure system design meets operational and commercial needs.
- Ensuring strong financial controls, data integrity and compliance are embedded across all system‑driven processes.
- Supporting change‑management activities, including training, documentation and stakeholder engagement.
About You
- Good knowledge of Microsoft D365 system.
- Experience working in a Finance department.
- A Finance degree or equivalent.
- A solid understanding of core finance processes and data flows (GL, AP/AR, fixed assets, budgeting, month‑end including Cost Accounting).
- Ability to work at pace, using time‑management skills to keep on track of multiple deliverables.
- Experience of working on a D365 implementation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Self‑motivated and results‑driven.
- BPSS security clearance required.
