To support us in achieving our vision we are currently recruiting an Environmental Enforcement Officer in your area.

This is a temporary assignment with the potential of turning into a permanent position, working in Crawley, RH10 area.

Hours

On average 40+ hours per week, shifts as per site rota. Monday to Sunday 06:00am – 19:00pm.

Pay Rate

£13.97 per hour.

Own transport required.

Job Purpose

To assist in the day‑to‑day monitoring and enforcement of environmental issues, anti‑social behaviour and contraventions of relevant legislation working alongside the Local Authority and Kingdom.

The Key Roles Of This Post Will Include

  • Foot patrols of on and off‑street areas, inspecting public areas, identifying contraventions, and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices using a handheld terminal (EDA – Electronic Digital Assistant) or manual systems when necessary, reporting any environmental, anti‑social behaviour and community safety problems to relevant departments where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, Fixed Penalty Notices issued, and evidence required for court proceedings.
  • Attend court proceedings to support prosecutions where required.
  • Maintain a suitable level of knowledge of relevant legislation (including but not limited to the Cleaner Neighbourhoods & Environment Act 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1990, PACE 1984, RIPA 2000).
  • Undertake administrative duties as required, ensuring that correct audit procedures and security arrangements are followed.
  • Synchronise FPN (Fixed Penalty Notice) and photographic evidence from handheld terminals and/or digital cameras.
  • Download and manage video evidence from Body‑Worn Video Devices.
  • Such other responsibilities allocated which are appropriate to the grade of the post.

Learning And Development

We have an informative and practical course aimed at aspiring environmental officers. Our training gives a greater insight into the daily duties required to become an environmental enforcement officer, current legislation and the communication and interaction aspect of the role. We engage participation via practical activities, the use of videos and observations whilst gaining a recognised qualification in environmental awareness.

Qualifications & Conditions

You will be required to provide a full five‑year checkable employment history and be willing to undergo a DBS.
