Chinook Product Support Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Product Support Engineer (PSE) to join the Chinook Rotary Wing Enterprise (RWE) In‑Service Engineering team. Based at Boeing Fleetlands (Gosport) and supporting the UK RAF Chinook fleet, this is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role providing in‑service engineering support and acting as the primary technical interface for maintenance matters.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver technical leadership and practical support for both on‑aircraft and off‑aircraft activities, conducting fault diagnosis using published resources and engineering judgement.
- Interpret and apply mechanical system design, wiring diagrams, schematics, functional test data, supplier documentation, engineering drawings, change memos and program directives to define delivery configurations and corrective actions.
- Lead root‑cause investigations, apply rigorous diagnostic methodologies, and convert engineering outcomes into authorised maintenance data such as procedures, repair instructions, Service Bulletins/Notes and change memos.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical, maintenance, operational and quality issues using the Aircraft Document Set, Structural Repair Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalogue, Operations Manual, Component Maintenance Manual, Wiring Diagram Manual and Engineering Instructions.
- Conduct analytical investigations and apply engineering analysis to resolve component and system problems when discrepancies cannot be resolved by the customer.
- Monitor product performance, analyse field data and provide recommendations to reduce recurrence of in‑service issues, driving continuous improvement through CI events.
- Support obsolescence management to enhance fleet supportability.
- Coordinate across internal Boeing functions—engineering, logistics, quality, supply chain and design authority—and engage with external stakeholders such as RAF operators, MROs, suppliers and regulators to deliver end‑to‑end in‑service solutions.
- Provide technical advice and mentorship to customer personnel and Boeing colleagues, develop and promote best practices to uphold and improve Boeing engineering standards.
- Maintain a practical understanding of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, schematics, functional testing and control, and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

- Extensive, specialised knowledge of customer maintenance techniques and organisation, policies and support resources.
- Extensive knowledge of repair, maintenance and retrofit processes and practices, including unplanned event system, technical orders, kitting, overhaul and depot support.
- Extensive, specialised knowledge of all delivered system/hardware (hydraulics, airframe, power plant, environmental control, fuel, electrical, avionic support equipment and rotor‑tune techniques including HUMS).
- Preferred: Ability to analyse and interpret all products and services with the group, develop and influence new strategies for concurrent engineering, and understand system engineering management plans and artefacts.
- Knowledge and experience of MoD projects, preferably Chinook related.
- Ability to direct, communicate clearly, delegate and ensure performance of assigned responsibilities in a project team setting.
- Financial performance metrics understanding.
