HR Consultant – Fixed Term Contract (6 months)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to work alongside Thames Water managers, providing the link between the operational business and our People team.
You will deliver a professional, high‑quality, customer‑focused HR service to our managers and leadership teams.
You will be responsible for overseeing, facilitating, and carrying out generalist HR processes that support Thames Water in the delivery of business objectives while enabling employees to flourish.
You will have the opportunity to build and manage internal relationships with key stakeholders to enhance and continually improve the quality of our HR service.
What you’ll be doing as a HR Consultant
- Support people managers with the employee lifecycle and implementation and delivery of our people strategy.
- Partner effectively to deliver a high‑quality HR service to our people.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to our people managers and leaders, with recommendations to assist and influence decision‑making.
- Analyse and interpret HR people data to measure and manage performance and communicate the results and findings to our leaders across the business.
- Make recommendations and advice following on from data analysis.
- Work with people managers and our Employee Relations team, offering advice and support on cases and potential risks.
- Work closely with the HR teams across the business to support the delivery of business needs, ensuring strategies and planned benefits are understood and influencing HR thinking and solutions.
Base Location: This is a hybrid role with a base location of Clearwater Court, Reading, RG1 8DB but will involve some travel to operational sites as required.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, 36 hours per week.
What you should bring to the role
- Experience across a broad spectrum of HR disciplines with an understanding of broad legal implications.
- Ability to lead and make strong, influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience of HR change projects.
- Ability to analyse HR and business metrics and develop solutions.
- Skilled at making influential decisions in a business context, shaping and influencing others.
- Comfortable challenging current practices and making recommendations for continuous improvement using successful change management.
- A solid understanding of employee engagement and how to coach leaders to understand and create value from it.
- Experienced in implementing people initiatives and able to develop metrics to measure impact.
- CIPD or equivalent membership desirable.
