Job Overview

Consultant – Chronic Pain (YC73) at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Fixed term 12 months, part‑time (8 program activities). Salary £109,725 to £145,478 a year PA. Reference number 360‑B‑1180‑B. Location: A7191 Pain Management L6, Watford, WD18 0HB, United Kingdom.

Job Summary

Dedicated Chronic Pain post with working conditions equitable to current consultants. Must possess FRCS or equivalent, be fully registered with the GMC and either on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of an MDT team to cover Pain clinics and theatres at the Trust sites.
  • Provide flexible coverage for joint MDT clinics with a psychologist as required.
  • Deliver a high‑quality multidisciplinary pain service that meets local referral‑to‑treatment targets and waiting‑time goals, taking full and independent responsibility for clinical care.
  • Participate in departmental and trust teaching, clinical governance and audit activities.
  • Assist the Trust in meeting commitments to the National Plan for modernisation of the NHS, including the 18‑week patient pathway.
  • Maintain a part‑time appointment with 8 program activities; the Job Plan will be discussed and agreed upon, and is subject to review.

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • FRCA or equivalent.
  • Must be on the Specialist Register of the GMC or within 6 months of CCT at interview.

Desirable

  • Other professional or higher qualification.
