Overview
The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CEB) at the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor from October 2026. The successful candidate will be designated as an Associate Professor after probation. The Department operates on the West Cambridge site with an annual research income of £15 million and has an international reputation for advancing molecular science and technology at the intersection of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.
Responsibilities
Develop and lead a research group of international standing in biotechnology, contributing to the teaching needs of the Department. Teaching and research duties will be split approximately 30:70. The selected candidate will teach and examine widely across the Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology Tripos, including areas outside their research expertise. The role also involves fostering positive research culture within the group and the wider department.
Qualifications
Excellent track record of conducting original research, evidenced by publications in leading international journals. Ability to secure external grant funding to support research. Strong teaching competence and willingness to teach in areas broadening the department’s curriculum. Demonstrated commitment to promoting a positive research culture.
