Job Description:

As a Support Worker you will be required to work individually and as part of a team to enable our members to live as independently as possible. You will be responsible for working with our employment team to facilitate employment opportunities and assist and support our members to enjoy an active social life. You will provide personal or supported care, work flexible hours which will involve early and late shifts (typically between 0700 to 2200), work every other weekend, some sleep‑ins and bank holidays in accordance with member need, and support the provision of social, health and personal care including moving, use of wheelchair and hoist as required. You will help members develop new and existing skills such as shopping and domestic tasks like cooking and cleaning, support them in observing Jewish Culture and achieving goals linked to the Kisharon Langdon mission, help design and develop their support/care plans, enable them to form relationships and wider social networks, support at mealtimes and social activities including music and art therapy, attend appointments and maintain health and well‑being, and promote and adhere to our workplace values (Respect, Integrity, Community, and Excellence).

The large majority of our vacancies are for full time (37.5 hours per week); therefore you will need to be able to work full time to apply for a role with us.

Confident at dealing with challenging behaviours and providing personal care, you must have a GCSE level or equivalent, a good standard of written English, and experience of working with adults with learning disabilities or autism is desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the successful applicant. Ideally you will hold a UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work use, though this is not essential. You will work shifts as part of a rota system that includes some weekend and bank holiday work and sleep‑ins as required, be flexible in your approach to work, and have a commitment to equality and diversity, taking a positive approach to supporting people with learning disabilities.

Qualifications and Pay

  • Qualified candidates need to demonstrate they have completed an Ofqual QCF (NVQ) Level 3 qualification or higher in Health & Social Care (for the higher rate of pay £13.56 per hour).
