Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Intensive Home Treatment Team (IHTT) based within the new Royal Edinburgh Building at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. You will work in both outpatient and community settings with adults experiencing acute episodes of mental ill-health, delivering brief focused occupational therapy assessment and intervention aimed at facilitating effective early discharges or preventing hospital admission.

  • Work within a well-established multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop clinical decision‑making, risk management and prioritising needs.
  • Apply occupational therapy leadership and provide profession‑specific support.

As the successful applicant you will have:

  • Relevant experience as an Occupational Therapist within mental health services.
  • Excellent communication and decision‑making skills.
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary working.
  • Motivational and initiative‑driven teamwork.
  • Capacity to thrive in a busy, fast‑paced environment.
  • A passion for advocating the value of occupational therapy in individual recovery journeys.

Working hours:

  • Usually one evening per week and one weekend per month.
  • Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata; salary will be pro‑rata.

You will receive regular clinical and professional supervision and support to take up a range of training and professional development opportunities. Quality improvement and innovative practice are welcomed and are actively supported through our quality improvement team.
