Job Summary

The successful candidate will support the delivery of an administrative service for the Cardio‑thoracic specialty. Duties include inpatient and outpatient waiting list management, communicating appointment and admission information, typing correspondence within performance targets, and providing general secretarial support in clinic settings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage waiting lists for cardiac consultations and procedures in accordance with the Patient Access Policy.
  • Communicate appointments and admission related information to patients and carers.
  • Type and circulate correspondence, notes and minutes within set performance targets.
  • Assist the Team Leader Medical Secretary and MDT Coordinator with administrative tasks.
  • Prepare clinic alterations, answer telephone calls, and perform other office duties using Microsoft Office, Careflow and iPortal.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • 5 or more GCSE A-C or equivalent.
  • Experience in UHNM hospital systems (Careflow, e-referrals, iPortal).
  • Secretarial/clerical background with at least 2 years of administrative experience.
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
  • Ability to prioritise workload in response to service need.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Administration/secretarial qualification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Audio typing experience.
  • RTT & pathways knowledge.
