Questech is recruiting on behalf of our client in Leeds for an experienced Semi‑Skilled Mechanical Fitter to assist in the assembly and testing of machinery and equipment.
Qualifications
- Experience of Mechanical Assembly fitting / hand skills are essential.
- Knowledge of hand skills, quality systems and procedures, problem solving, mechanical and technical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Basic lean principles.
- Flexibility, commitment and a willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the assembly and testing of machinery and equipment to meet customer requirements.
- Build sub‑assemblies using standard SOPs and fixtures.
- Prepare components for painting (washing and masking).
- Prepare painted components prior to assembly, such as re‑tapping, reaming and cleaning machine surfaces.
- Mark off, drill and tap.
- Fit exterior equipment (e.g. nameplates, labels, guard switches, guarding, hydraulic hoses, auxiliary pumps).
- Route steel and nylon pipework as directed.
- Unpack parts and equipment.
- Fit non‑electrical machine services prior to testing.
- Use sealants as directed.
- Strip non‑electrical machines prior to dispatch.
- Assist in loading and unloading equipment onto wagons as directed.
- Complete all shift documentation as required during component assembly.
- Receive and undertake non‑complex tasks and work instructions given by skilled teammates or supervisors.
- Ensure all documentation is up to date and legible.
- Report any hazards that may cause harm to yourself or a colleague.
- Carry out cleaning pit‑stops at the proposed time efficiently and effectively; escalate any tooling, drawing, routing or machine faults.
- Work Monday to Friday during days shifts.
- Flexible start and finish times are available.
