Summary

North East Accountancy Solutions are seeking a hardworking Level 2 Accounts / Finance Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will support the finance team with invoicing, accounts and more.

Wage

£15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age.

National Minimum Wage

Training Course

Accounts or Finance Assistant (Level 2).

Hours

37.5 hrs per week: 9:00am – 5:30pm Monday‑Thursday with a 45‑minute lunch break; 8:00am – 3:00pm Friday with a 30‑minute lunch break (total 37 hrs 30 mins per week).

Start Date

Monday 13 July 2026.

1 year 2 months.

Work

Most of the apprenticeship is spent working; you will learn on the job by gaining hands‑on experience.

What You’ll Do at Work

  • Preparing sole‑trader and limited company financial accounts
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Preparing Self‑Assessment returns
  • Preparing CIS returns
  • Payroll
  • Filing various financial correspondence
  • Answering the telephone to deal with queries from clients and other organisations
  • Scanning MTD related documents

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training Provider

Middlesbrough College.

What You’ll Learn

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconcilations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon and tailoring language to the audience, including an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

After this Apprenticeship

When the time comes, the apprentice will be able to progress onto accounts preparation and then eventually the posting up of the accounts. They will also be able to complete VAT returns and CIS returns. The opportunity to train in payroll may also be available.
