Role Responsibilities

Parking Services Officers are responsible for the acknowledgement, investigation and response of challenges and appeals presented to the service. They join a team of officers who take a fair, consistent and ethical approach.

  • Review and respond to challenges to Parking and Bus Lane/Gate PCN’s
  • Administer Residents’ Parking Schemes for the city
  • Manage cases through the debt recovery process
  • Represent the council at Traffic Penalty Tribunal hearings
  • Take enforcement action against untaxed vehicles in accordance with DVLA powers
  • Enforce Blue Badge fraud measures
  • Issue parking suspensions and dispensations

Required Skills

  • Communication: Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately.
  • Analytical: Absorb, understand and assimilate moderately complex information, and compare information from multiple sources.
  • Presentational: Good literacy and numeracy skills to produce clear calculations and documentation.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Make effective decisions, take ownership, demonstrate sound judgement and explain reasoning.
  • ICT: Use multiple applications, systems and associated software packages.
  • Administrative: Good literacy, numeracy and administrative skills.
