- Role: Mental Health Support Assistant
- Pay: £90‑110 per day PAYE
- Contract: full‑time, term‑time only from September 2026
- School size: around 450 children, including a specialist autism centre
- Ofsted rating: Good (2024), Outstanding in Behaviour & Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership & Management, Early Years
- Experience: Psychology, Criminology, Counselling, Education or Mental Health graduate preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide 1‑on‑1 and small‑group support across the school day for pupils with SEMH, autism, speech and language needs, anxiety, emotional regulation and social communication
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, emotional awareness and positive learning behaviours
- Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, pastoral staff, families and external professionals
Qualifications & Experience
- Calm, patient, emotionally intelligent and committed to safeguarding
- Reliable, proactive and confident supporting vulnerable pupils with a range of emotional and behavioural needs
- Previous experience with children, SEND, mentoring, tutoring, youth work, care or mental health support highly desirable
- Graduate serious about progressing into Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Therapy or Teaching
