Employability Support Worker

We have a unique opportunity to provide practical support for work‑led and experience‑based learning for adults with disabilities. The role is part of the Supporting into Work projects in Fenland, supporting trainees in the running of community cafes.

This is a part‑time role of 20.5 hours per week, worked over three days (typically 8.50am – 4pm, with some flexibility based on service need). No sponsorship will be offered as the role does not meet the salary requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals to gain the skills and experience needed to move into voluntary or paid work.
  • Provide practical support, training and encouragement so trainees can build on their own skills and abilities while respecting individual needs and choices.
  • Assist trainees in running community cafes: preparing and serving food and drinks, handling payments, and promoting excellent customer service.
  • Bake cakes and pastries as required.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations or challenges, assessing risk levels for service users and others.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Awareness of working with people with learning and/or physical disabilities.
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role with a history of promoting skills for those with disabilities.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to support the service as it grows.
  • Demonstrated baking skills (cakes and pastries); this will be tested during the interview.
