BCCR Control Room Operator Apprentice

Overview

Vanderlande is a market leader in efficient logistics process automation, providing solutions for airports, parcels, and warehouses. They partner with Heathrow Airport to maintain baggage handling systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate Baggage Combined Control Room (BCCR) systems at London Heathrow Airport.
• Monitor baggage systems, configure routes, and input operational data.
• React to changing system conditions and identify bags at risk.
• Carry out tag traces and compile daily reports on bag analysis.
• Communicate with internal and external colleagues regarding baggage equipment faults and relevant information.
• Train and familiarize new staff members and share knowledge.
• Support the BCCR team during baggage related incidents.
• Allocate arrival flights proactively.
• Analyze data to identify improvement areas in processes and system performance.
• Develop knowledge of baggage process controls, airport and airline requirements.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic, proactive attitude and flexibility.
• High awareness of safety and wellbeing, leading by example.
• Good communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Five A*-C or 9-4 grade GCSEs (including Maths and English).
• Interest in operations and continuous improvement.
• Enthusiastic and motivated attitude.
