Have you got a passion for helping and empowering others? Are you wanting a career with progression and great benefits whilst making a difference?
School Staffing Solutions is recruiting for compassionate and dedicated people to become Support Workers to support young adults with severe and profound learning difficulties and complex health needs.
This unique setting offers a supportive living and learning environment for young adults with severe and profound learning difficulties and complex health needs. With specialist facilities and a focus on promoting independence, we support each of our young people through the transition from education into adulthood.
The Role:
As a support worker you will be highly involved in personal care, supporting our young people with all aspects of personal hygiene including toileting, dressing and maintaining their personal appearance.
In addition to supporting their medical needs you will also help with the young adults’ therapies such as rebound therapy or hydrotherapy in our newly renovated pool. We also have sensory gardens, a skills centre, forestry school and rooms dedicated to art, music and much more.
Independence is prompted wherever possible; the adults will often run their own days with what they like to do, so you could be helping to make things in the site’s enterprise scheme, going on shopping trips, taking part in forestry lessons or even going to the pub.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Willingness to learn and to go the extra mile
- Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible
- Exceptional communication skills and patience
- Resilient with a robust and positive nature
- Ability to be creative in meeting the needs of the young adults
- Ability to work on a rota pattern which will include working every other weekend
It is a tough yet totally rewarding role. Ultimately, we are looking for people with a passion to build relationships and positively change the lives of the young adults that the school supports.
What’s on offer:
- Full training given and continued support
- Opportunity to study for Level 3 diploma in Health and Social Care which will be funded by us
- Part time hours available if required
- 33 days’ holiday including bank holidays
- Life assurance
- Enhanced pension scheme
- Perkbox – access to shopping discounts
- Car lease scheme
- Bike to work scheme
Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.
