About the role
Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay & Barnstaple) is recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join a busy transport operation based in Newton Abbot.
This is a permanent, full-time role with weekly pay, a regular Thursday to Monday working pattern and long-term job security. It would suit an experienced Class 2 Driver who is looking for stable work with a dependable South Devon employer.
Duties
- Driving a Category C Class 2 HGV vehicle safely and professionally
- Completing customer deliveries across the region
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
- Following drivers’ hours regulations and tachograph rules
- Completing delivery paperwork and vehicle documentation
- Following company health and safety procedures
- Providing a good level of customer service during deliveries
- Working reliably across a Thursday to Monday shift pattern
What we are looking for
You will need:
- A full UK Category C Class 2 HGV driving licence
- A valid Driver CPC qualification
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous Class 2 driving experience
- A good understanding of drivers’ hours and road transport legislation
- Reliability and confidence working in a busy delivery environment
- The ability to work Thursday to Monday, including weekend shifts
Desirable but not essential:
- Knowledge of South Devon delivery routes
- Previous experience in distribution or logistics
- Awareness of manual handling procedures
