Delivery Driver

About the role

As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll be bringing the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner‑led service right to our customers’ doors. Actively playing out our ethos – passionate Partners serving food lovers. When you’re not on the road, you’ll support the team at the shop with daily tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping, contributing to an efficient and welcoming shop environment.

Due to its nature, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Checking your delivery routes for the day.
• Loading and preparing your van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
• Ensuring all vehicle safety checks are complete, maintaining full road compliance and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Being an ambassador for the Waitrose brand on the road with great customer service as your number‑one priority.
• Helping customers with their shopping and building rapport based on trust and service.
• Supporting the wider shop team with general shop‑keeping tasks when required.

Essential skills/experience you’ll need

• Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Excellent customer‑service skills.
• Strong time‑management skills.
• Ability to cope with the physical demands of the role (e.g., lifting crates, moving cages).
• Comfortable working independently, self‑motivated and adaptable.
• IT literacy.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• Previous driving experience and knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed.

Hours of work

Varied hours including morning and evening shifts and weekends.

Vacancy 1: Sunday 06:45‑14:45, Monday 06:45‑14:45, Friday 14:00‑22:00. Vacancy 2: Saturday 06:45‑14:45, Sunday 13:30‑21:30, Wednesday 06:15‑14:15.
