Overview
We’re looking for a creative, dedicated, and enthusiastic Functional Skills Teacher to join our vibrant team at HMP Altcourse, a category B local prison. The role is permanent, full‑time, 37 hours per week.
Site Information
HMP Altcourse is located in Fazakerley, Liverpool. It holds adult offenders and aims to provide a secure and rehabilitative environment.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification – with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
- Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments conducive to learning and motivational for learners
- Have a previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
- Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Can motivate and enthuse learners
- Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
- Demonstrate positive team working
