Responsibilities
- Undertake complex planned and non‑routine reactive maintenance work and repairs to maintain building engineering plant, equipment and systems to a high standard throughout the Trust, ensuring safe operation, serviceability and compliance with statutory and mandatory regulations, while supporting other Estates Operatives and the Estates Helpdesk.
- Lead and deliver repair and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) of electrical and mechanical services under management direction and in conjunction with the Estates Officers plan.
- Perform hands‑on maintenance tasks, while leading, supporting and training the team to ensure compliance with statutory and best‑practice requirements.
- Support the development of a multi‑skilled approach to the provision of electrical/mechanical services.
- Act as a “Competent Person” for low‑voltage electrical systems as defined in HTM 06‑01.
- Respond to Helpdesk reactive maintenance or breakdown calls, carry out remedial works and provide accurate feedback to customers and the Helpdesk.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and engineering installations, plant and equipment, handling new situations and passing on knowledge to others.
- Complete all designated maintenance tasks in line with statutory requirements and to a high standard.
- Following appropriate assessment and training, act as a Competent Person for systems including LV electrical systems, water and ventilation.
- Carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment, utilizing multi‑faceted equipment.
- Demonstrate precision and dexterity in handling fine tools and materials, ensuring accuracy in all technical tasks.
- Support the Estates Officer (operations) by participating in meetings, communicating with contractors, and providing advice on site arrangements and engineering system issues related to external surveys and surveyors.
- Liaise with company representatives regarding the operation, repair and servicing of specialist equipment, implementing contracts as necessary to secure optimal cost, quality and performance.
