About the Role
We are looking for a Young Person Homeless Support Worker to join our team in South Shields. The role supports customers who are at risk of homelessness, delivering support and intensive housing management services to vulnerable people living in temporary dispersed accommodation. You will develop and deliver care plans, sign up new customers, provide advice on welfare and benefit systems, carry out risk assessments, maintain the scheme, manage repairs and liaise with the housing management team. A car and mileage allowance is essential.
Responsibilities
- Support customers with safe accommodation and provide individualized support plans.
- Deliver intensive housing management services and develop strong links with customers, staff and external agencies.
- Sign up new customers and advise on welfare/benefit systems.
- Carry out risk assessments and health‑and‑safety monitoring.
- Work with housing management team regarding repairs, voids and maintenance.
Qualifications
- Experience working with vulnerable client groups, preferably in a housing or social services context.
- Knowledge of housing management best practice, letting procedures, tenancy compliance and the benefits system (desirable).
- Strong IT and communication skills.
- Resilience in challenging situations.
- Local knowledge of South Shields area is an advantage.
- Enhanced DBS check and disclosure required.
