Job Description:

Horizon Care and Education is seeking a peripatetic teacher to join our Alternative Learning Pathway team in the Rochdale and Oldham area.

About the role

You will be based at Great Howarth School and will form part of the local team. As a peripatetic teacher you will visit children to deliver 1-to-1 education in community settings, attend meetings and training at the school, and may be asked to cover lessons or support in school when required. You will work in a variety of non‑school settings, building and maintaining excellent educational relationships with students who have struggled in a school environment. A car owner/driver is required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised 1-to-1 lessons to pupils aged 8–25.
  • Plan, prepare and assess learning programmes tailored to individual needs.
  • Attend team meetings, training and professional development sessions.
  • Possibly cover lessons or provide support in school as needed.

Qualifications

  • QTS or QTLS qualification.
  • Proven teaching and learning experience.
  • Up‑to‑date safeguarding and child‑protection knowledge and experience.
  • Energy, passion and drive to create engaging lessons.
  • Initiative, vision, excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Experience and passion for working with students with SEN/SEMH in 1‑to‑1 or small group settings.
