Waste & Cleansing HGV/LGV Driver
Contract Type: PermanentWorking Hours: 37 hours per week – 14:00‑22:00Location: Eastcroft Depot, London Road, Nottingham, NG2 3AHSalary: £28,598 – £31,022 per annum (pro rata for part time)
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated driver to join our frontline team. In this role you will be more than just a driver – you will lead a crew, ensure essential services run smoothly, and keep Nottingham clean, safe, and welcoming.
What You’ll Do
- Drive and take responsibility for our Waste & Cleansing vehicles (up to HGV)
- Lead and support a crew of up to 4 operatives, mentoring new drivers
- Deliver a wide range of services: refuse, recycling, street cleansing, and winter gritting support
- Always ensure safety – for yourself, your crew, and the public
- Carry out daily vehicle checks, basic maintenance, and keep vehicles roadworthy and presentable
- Use in‑cab systems to keep services efficient and responsive
- Work flexibly across the city (and surrounding areas) in all weathers as part of a dedicated public service team
Who We’re Looking For
- Hold a Category C (HGV Class II) driving licence
- Have a valid Driver CPC card
- Work between 14:00‑22:00 (Mon–Thu 14:00–22:00; Fri 14:00–21:30)
- Have experience/knowledge of safe operation of refuse collection vehicles, gritters and mainline sweepers
