Overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to support children and young people with a Learning Disability who are experiencing poor mental health or emotional dysregulation. The post is 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
- Visit young people and families in a variety of settings, providing multi-disciplinary assessment and interventions as part of agreed care pathways and interventions.
- Complete holistic assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary formulation and evidence‑based interventions for children with moderate to severe learning disability.
- Work autonomously and respond to the needs of an individual caseload, from initial assessment to discharge.
- Provide specialist skills and knowledge within the four quadrants of the IThrive model.
- Liaise and provide advice, information and consultation to colleagues and other agencies, and undertake service governance activity, including research and audit as appropriate.
- Actively participate in role‑modelling interventions and implement Positive Behaviour Support planning approaches.
- Participate in clinical governance and service development within the CAMHS/LD Team, in partnership with professional specialists and other clinical teams.
Qualifications
- Experience in a similar role as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Commitment and enthusiasm for working with children and young people with learning disability and mental health difficulties.
- A sense of humour and ability to work flexibly and responsively within the service.
