Specialist Speech & Language Therapist- CAMHS-LD

Overview

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to support children and young people with a Learning Disability who are experiencing poor mental health or emotional dysregulation. The post is 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Visit young people and families in a variety of settings, providing multi-disciplinary assessment and interventions as part of agreed care pathways and interventions.
• Complete holistic assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary formulation and evidence‑based interventions for children with moderate to severe learning disability.
• Work autonomously and respond to the needs of an individual caseload, from initial assessment to discharge.
• Provide specialist skills and knowledge within the four quadrants of the IThrive model.
• Liaise and provide advice, information and consultation to colleagues and other agencies, and undertake service governance activity, including research and audit as appropriate.
• Actively participate in role‑modelling interventions and implement Positive Behaviour Support planning approaches.
• Participate in clinical governance and service development within the CAMHS/LD Team, in partnership with professional specialists and other clinical teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role as a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Commitment and enthusiasm for working with children and young people with learning disability and mental health difficulties.
• A sense of humour and ability to work flexibly and responsively within the service.
