Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and passionate team at HMP Wayland as a family support worker. This role requires you to support the families of those we support in our care.

Responsibilities

  • Support the families of those we support in our care.
  • Assess the needs of family members by completing a comprehensive assessment and, along with the family member, develop a SMART care plan.
  • Facilitate family days for those you support.
  • Deliver group interventions to those you work with.
  • Promote and develop the service, working flexibly.
  • Work directly with offenders and deliver effective care-planned support using appropriate models and interventions tailored to the individual needs of the client group.
  • Support families of clients who have substance use issues or who need support with the challenges of having a loved one in custody.
  • Work with clients to deliver specific tailor-made interventions around family relationships and relationship building.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience of working in health and social care, ideally within the field of problematic substance use, mental health or another comparable field
  • Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to network for the benefit of the client and service
  • Evidence of managing a busy caseload or tasks and excellent organisational skills
  • To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and be familiar with database management systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have an understanding of complex issues presented by people entering custody
  • Determined, with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about making a real difference to the lives of people we support

Working Conditions

  • Hours of work Monday – Friday 08:00-16:00 (37.5 hrs per week)
  • Salary £26,298 rising to £28,000 in line with our yearly appraisal process (Pro-rata)
  • Annual leave 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing each year up to a maximum of 30 days.
  • Location: Norfolk & Suffolk Services, Thetford (Town)
  • Contract type: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hrs per week).
