Inclusion Mentor – Northampton – Start September 2026 – Full‑time, Permanent Position.
We are looking for a dedicated Inclusion Mentor to support students with diverse needs and help them thrive within the school community.
Role Overview
In this role, you will work closely with students who may face SEND, SEMH challenges, low confidence, attendance difficulties, or behavioural barriers. Your focus will be on building positive relationships, increasing engagement, and ensuring full inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored one‑to‑one mentoring support for students
- Deliver small‑group interventions focused on behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement
- Support students in overcoming barriers to attendance and learning
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Collaborate with pastoral staff, SENCO, and teachers
- Promote self‑esteem, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
- Support safeguarding procedures and maintain accurate records where required
Qualifications
- Experience working with young people (education, youth work, care, coaching, or similar settings)
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- Knowledge of SEND and/or SEMH needs is beneficial
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a wider team
- A genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for young people
