Job Specific Information

Two‑year programme includes 12‑week classroom training followed by placement in patrol teams. Third year requires completing organisational objectives. Veterans have access to Police Pension Scheme, shift allowances, personal development and employee assistance programmes.

  • Steps: virtual or in‑person familiarisation event, national sift from College of Policing, virtual assessment centre, in‑person interview.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Minimum two years service in any branch of the armed forces. Service records must be emailed to Talentpoliceofficer@avonandsomerset.police.uk.
  • Residency in the UK for the last three consecutive years.
  • Valid manual driving licence (UK or other – inquire).
  • Level 2 (GCSE) in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above, or functional skills equivalent.
  • Recruitment vetting level RV; requires a 3‑year checkable history in the UK.
