Customer Delivery Driver – Southampton Extra

About the role

Rate of pay starts from £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. A minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week is offered, with a 12‑hour minimum available for those who prefer fewer hours. Availability should include evenings on Mon, Tue, Thu and Sat between 17:00 and 23:00, with flexibility to accommodate the schedule. You will receive 3 weeks’ notice of your exact shifts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the van and trays are clean and organised.
• Keep the back yard tidy and pick up litter as needed.
• Participate in the tray wash process.
• Load the van and check it for roadworthiness.
• Communicate with customers about order changes, substitutions and refunds.
• Treat all products and deliveries with care, as if they were your own.
• Explain that no extra charge applies for accepted substitutions.
• Make deliveries within the customer’s scheduled time slot.
• Call customers before arrival when arriving early.
• Notify the store or centre if running 30 minutes or more late.

Requirements

• Build team spirit and collaborate with colleagues to improve store performance.
• Practice warmth and courtesy in all customer and colleague interactions.
• Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change.
• Maintain an energetic and driven attitude, balancing home and work effectively.
• Share ideas with managers for store improvements.
• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA full or automatic driving licence with no more than three penalty points, held for at least 12 months.
