Broughton Primary School

Salaries: £26,806 – £27,032 per annum.

Hours: 36 hours per week for 52 weeks per year. Monday to Friday; shifts between 8 am and 6 pm (availability on request).

About the Nursery

Broughton Nursery offers early learning and childcare for children aged 3 to 5 years across two sites – one at Broughton Primary School and one at Drummond Community High School. Current capacity is up to 50 children at Broughton and 15 at Drummond. A new purpose‑built centre will open soon, providing space for up to 120 children.

Role Overview

You will join a dynamic nursery team as a part‑time Early Years Assistant, working alongside permanent and term‑time staff to deliver a warm, literacy‑ and numeracy‑rich, nurturing environment where children learn and grow through play.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality early education and childcare for children aged 3‑5.
  • Support teachers in planning and implementing daily learning activities.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support every child’s holistic development.
  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Passion for early childhood education and experience working with children aged 3‑5.
  • Commitment to the PVG Scheme with an active check, or willingness to undergo an update.
  • Overseas Criminal Record Check required if a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last five years.
  • Flexible shift availability between 8 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday.

This is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. All applicants must provide a satisfactory PVG check and, where required, an overseas criminal record check before employment can commence.
