Consultant Anaesthetist – NHS Grampian

Location: Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin, Scotland.

Employment: Full time, flexible or part‑time appointment. Designated work may also occur at other Grampian or Health Board hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Anaesthetic Department at Dr Gray’s Hospital.
  • Provide specialist anaesthetic care in accordance with Royal College of Anaesthetists standards.
  • Participate in the newly established consultant‑led obstetric service, including the resident non‑consultant rota tier.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality patient care.
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC.
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (FRCA) and higher specialist training leading to CCT.
  • Within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from interview date.
  • Eligibility for CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration, where applicable.
  • International recognised specialist qualification approved by the GMC for substantive consultant post.

Additional Information

  • Flexible and part‑time working patterns available; annualised work may also be considered.
