This is an internal opportunity for employees of the RUH only. An opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join our enthusiastic and progressive Older Person’s Unit (OPU). The post provides experience working on the OPU wards, with our MDT Acute Frailty providing rapid CGA for FSDEC and new admissions, and the opportunity to work with Hospital at Home.
Responsibilities
The role involves the following duties:
- Serve on inpatient work and out of hours cover, ensuring senior decision making for patients is conducted daily.
- Regular review and management of inpatients on your ward or caseload under geriatrician supervision.
- Gain outpatients experience in general or specialist clinics.
- Arrange ongoing rehabilitation and discharge in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with MDT, patients and relatives.
- Support junior resident doctors and medical nurse practitioners.
- Participate in daily ward rounds of new frailty admissions.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the Improving Together programme.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Evidence of working at specialty reg level or above in OPU.
- Appropriate UK professional registration.
- Right to work in the UK (Sponsorship not required unless otherwise noted).
- Disclosure and Barring Service clearance required.
