This is a pivotal appointment for a Chartered Senior Project Manager looking to take charge of significant developments within Manchester’s booming built environment.
Our client is a highly regarded national Construction Consultancy with a strong pipeline of work across the Northern Powerhouse. They require a dynamic and seasoned leader to be the commercial and technical anchor for their Manchester operations. We are looking for an ambitious specialist with proven experience in delivering projects within a consultancy environment— this is a non-IT project management role.

Responsibilities: Beyond Project Delivery
The successful candidate will own the full life-cycle of complex projects, ensuring successful outcomes across program management, cost, and quality.
- Commercial Leadership: Serve as the client interface, providing expert pre and post-contract advice, and ensuring project completion aligns with profitability targets.
- Contractual Expertise: Implement and manage all phases of complex contracts, demonstrating expert proficiency with standard forms such as JCT, NEC, and FIDIC (where applicable).
- Cost & Program Management: Utilize advanced software (e.g., Asta PowerProject, MS Project) to manage schedules, oversee value engineering, and maintain rigorous cost controls.
- Quality Assurance: Drive technical excellence and adherence to statutory and quality standards across all project phases.
- Team Development: Contribute actively to the growth of the Manchester office by supervising, mentoring, and developing junior and intermediate project managers.
Candidate Profile: Experience and Qualifications
We are seeking a dedicated professional who can demonstrate:
- Consultancy Experience: Minimum 8-10 years post-qualification experience gained specifically within a reputable Construction Project Management Consultancy.
- Education: Degree-qualified in a relevant construction or built environment discipline (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, etc.).
- Chartership Requirement: Professional Chartership is mandatory (or actively working towards completion). Please clearly indicate your status (MRICS, MCIOB, or MAPM) in your application.
- Sector Exposure: Demonstrable track record managing projects in sectors including High-Density Residential, Commercial Office Space, Education, and Healthcare.
- Skills: Exceptional written communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and team leadership abilities are essential.
