Azure Infrastructure Solution Architect / Lead

Our client is seeking an experienced Azure Infrastructure Solution Architect / Lead to support a large-scale cloud, data, and digital transformation programme within a global Life Sciences environment. This role will be responsible for designing and delivering enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure solutions, modernising data platforms, and enabling next-generation capabilities across cloud, analytics, AI, and data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise cloud infrastructure strategies using Microsoft Azure across both IaaS and PaaS services
• Define cloud architecture standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for infrastructure delivery
• Lead cloud migration programmes, modernising legacy applications, databases, and data platforms
• Design and implement scalable Azure infrastructure solutions supporting business-critical workloads
• Develop cloud-native architectures using Azure services, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, and related technologies
• Lead the integration of AI and advanced analytics capabilities including Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, RAG architectures, and Microsoft AI Foundry
• Support enterprise data platform and Data Fabric initiatives within multi-cloud environments
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and DevOps best practices using Azure DevOps, GitHub, PowerShell, and Azure CLI
• Collaborate with business, architecture, engineering, and delivery teams to define and deliver strategic solutions
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, cost-optimised, and aligned to enterprise architecture standards

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience as an Azure Solution Architect or Azure Infrastructure Architect
• Deep expertise across Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS services
• Strong Azure Infrastructure Architecture and Cloud Migration experience
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with:
  • GitHub
• Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation experience
• Experience with Docker and containerised workloads
• Experience designing secure cloud solutions and implementing Azure security best practices
• Experience supporting enterprise data platforms and cloud-native architectures
• Strong stakeholder management and solution leadership capabilities

Highly Desirable

• Azure OpenAI and Generative AI experience
• RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) architectures
• Experience within Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, or R&D environments
