Job Summary
JD.com is seeking an experienced Android Engineer responsible for the development of our eCommerce Android apps in European countries such as the UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. In this role, you will implement the mobile user‑friendly eCommerce apps, work closely with product management and other engineering teams, and deliver user‑centric solutions in a dynamic, international environment. The position is located on‑site in London.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Joybuy app.
- Participate in product requirement discussions.
- Formulate scalable and the most suitable technical solutions.
- Develop according to requirements to ensure quality and delivery timelines.
- Solve technical challenges in the Android client and optimize product performance.
- Research and experiment with new technologies to promote the advancement of client‑side technology within the team.
- Work on‑site in London.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science or related field.
- 5+ years of Android development experience.
- Proficient in Kotlin; familiar with Java, Android development frameworks, and commonly used third‑party libraries.
- Proven track record of large‑user‑base apps (e.g., managing app products with over 100 daily active users).
- Good programming style, solid foundation in programming and data structures/algorithms; deep understanding of object‑oriented programming concepts with strong design capabilities.
- Familiar with Android performance optimization and memory optimization techniques, and strong problem identification and resolution skills.
- Experience in one or more complete Android projects, with core design and development responsibilities in at least one project.
- Passionate, strong ability to work under pressure, with a sense of responsibility and teamwork spirit, good communication skills, keen interest in new technologies, and a capacity for self‑learning and rapid learning to continuously improve technical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in eCommerce Android development.
- Some cross‑platform development experience.
- Committed to open‑source projects.
- Proficiency in Chinese, German, French, Dutch or other languages is a plus.
