Workshop Engineer – Structures

Location: Bournemouth

Salary: £37,738 – £39,780 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday

Overtime: Available

Our client is a leading organization within the aerospace and defence sector, providing specialist aviation services to customers across the UK and internationally. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled Workshop Engineer – Structures to join their engineering team in Bournemouth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with structural or aircraft workshop experience to work in a highly technical environment, supporting the maintenance, repair and manufacture of aircraft components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble aircraft components from kits using engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out a variety of assembly techniques including riveting (solid and blind), bolting and fitting.
  • Manufacture metal detail components involving bending, fitting and finishing processes.
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Perform maintenance and repair activities on mechanical and structural aircraft components in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Complete all relevant maintenance and manufacturing documentation accurately.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure work is completed efficiently and to required standards.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify that all tooling and test equipment used is correctly calibrated and recorded.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Identify tooling requirements and support procurement activities where required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
  • Strong practical engineering skills with experience in mechanical or structural assembly.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Desirable

  • Previous aircraft maintenance workshop or base maintenance experience.
  • Experience within aerospace, aviation or regulated engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of structural repair and component manufacturing processes.
