Staff Nurse, Band 5- Emergency Department

It is an exciting opportunity to join the emergency department. We are looking for Registered Nurses that have the enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and develop in a fast‑paced working environment and the main front‑door service of both Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.

Additional working pattern details: We work a mixture of long days 07:30-20:00 and night shifts 19:30-08:00 7 days a week.

Main duties of the job

A Registered Nurse who delivers compassionate, professional, skilled and effective person‑centred, evidence‑based nursing care by working within a multidisciplinary team, developing collaborative, needs‑based care plans through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Active registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Immediate Life Support or willingness to undertake

Knowledge and Skills

  • Able to prioritise workload and work under pressure
  • Knowledge of patient safety and safeguarding
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • IT and documentation skill
  • Knowledge of emergency care pathways

Clinical / Experience

  • Experience working in a clinical setting
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Acute or emergency nursing experience
  • Experience caring for acutely unwell patients
