Sister / Charge Nurse – Acute Medical Unit

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the Ward Manager and the team of nursing staff within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) and Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. The candidate must have extensive post‑registration experience and be an experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) capable of leading and assessing the work of the nursing team.

Main Duties

• Support the Ward Manager with continuous improvement of the department, effectively monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care reflected in patient experience.
• Supervise, manage and control the activities of the department in an efficient and effective manner, including assessment and implementation of appropriate care for new and current patients, ensuring adequate staffing levels and optimal resource usage.
• Lead and supervise all grades of staff, providing teaching, training and supervision, and actively fostering a positive team culture.
• Communicate proactively with multidisciplinary teams, anticipating and addressing issues constructively, and remaining flexible to changing workloads.
• Demonstrate a proactive management style, supporting senior colleagues in the ongoing development of the department.

Qualifications

Extensive post‑registration experience (Band 6 or equivalent) as a registered general nurse (RGN) within an acute medical setting.
