Main area: Pharmacist for Bedded Services in Community Services. Grade Band 8a, Contract Permanent. Hours: Full time or Part time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9-5pm). Job ref 824-CORP-7933616-B.

Site: Parsons Green Health Centre, Town London.

Salary: £66,274 – £73,496 Per Annum + EDC (Pro Rata for part time hours). Salary period: Yearly. Closing: 21/06/2026 23:59.

An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and innovative Senior Pharmacist to join the expanding Medicines Management team at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

This role is suitable for pharmacists with experience at NHS Band 8a level seeking a rewarding career in community healthcare, particularly those with secondary care experience looking to transfer to a patient‑centred environment and develop skills in service transformation, mobilisation/demobilisation projects, quality improvement, and leadership.

Main duties of the job

  • Support and deliver a high quality clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation service to patients in Community Hospitals.
  • Ensure an integrated approach to medicines management and continuity of pharmaceutical care for patients admitted from primary and secondary care into Community Hospitals.
  • Contribute to the Trust’s clinical governance through interventions that optimise medicines management across all relevant areas of practice.
  • Lead, manage and develop staff within the Bedded Services team who work in Community Hospitals.
  • Work as an active member of the Medicines Management team, contributing to the delivery of a safe, high quality and legally compliant service.
  • Depending on development and service needs, work across CLCH locations within London and may be required to work at other CLCH sites/localities to ensure Community Hospital patients have access to high quality clinical pharmacy services.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

  • Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Certificate qualification or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma qualification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for Continuing Professional Development, evidenced by portfolio.
  • Use of reflective practice for personal and professional development.
  • Independent Prescriber or working towards qualification.

Experience

  • Post‑qualification experience of clinical pharmacy, medicines information, and prescribing advice.
  • Experience working in secondary care and in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience providing a Clinical Pharmacy Service with good medicines management initiatives.
  • Experience working effectively within multi‑disciplinary groups.
  • Experience undertaking structured medicine reviews.
  • Experience training and tutoring in a hospital setting.
  • Experience with audit techniques.
  • Experience supervising a team/service.
  • Primary care experience, including Community Services; experience of line management; experience of project management.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of the NHS and political environment.
  • Sound knowledge of prescribing, pharmacy, and medicines management issues in primary and secondary care.
  • Up‑to‑date clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge.
  • Excellent communicator – verbal and written, including presentation skills.
  • Excellent clinical skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills and ability to persuade others.
  • Good inter‑personal skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to provide succinct and objective advice.
  • Flexibility in approach to meet service needs and support complex changes.
