Job Summary
Clinical Studies Officer / Senior Research Nurse – Band 6 (£43,231 – £52,679) – 36 hours per week, fixed‑term 12‑month contract, part‑time or full‑time. Position within the Neuroprogressive and Dementia Network (NDN) at Western General Hospital, NHS Lothian.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver a diverse portfolio of clinical trials across a range of neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, progressive supranuclear palsy, mild cognitive impairment, vascular dementia and Huntington’s disease.
- Interact confidently with people with dementia or those with neurological disease and their carers.
- Support the efficient set‑up and delivery of high‑quality clinical trials in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases across Scotland.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience of working in a research environment and having been involved in research studies.
- PVG Scheme membership or record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult); if not a current member, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before appointment.
- Demonstrated ability to interact confidently with people with dementia or neurological disease and their carers.
- Will be subject to the required criminal records check as determined by the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and any relevant legislative changes effective 1 April 2025.

Additional Information
