Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Permanent) – Tyne & Wear (Hybrid)

Tyne & Wear-based engineering organisation seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical design on electromechanical products – from clean-sheet concept through prototype build/test and into production.

What you’ll do

• Own mechanical design for rotating equipment and drivetrain-style assemblies (plus associated components as needed)
• Lead concept development, prototyping and validation
• Deliver engineering analysis (hand calcs and CAE) and design for reliability/durability
• Produce 3D CAD models and 2D drawings; support release to manufacture
• Apply DFM/DFA and DFMEA/PFMEA
• Work with manufacturing/test teams and manage suppliers

What you’ll need

• Engineering analysis experience (e.g., CAE tools)
• Practical experience designing for manufacture and supporting builds/testing
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Gears/transmissions/bearings or similar calculations
