Structural Engineer

Structural Engineer – East Brent, Somerset – Full-Time – Permanent.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Structural Engineer to work on challenging structural steel projects within a thriving and growing business in East Brent, Somerset.

Key Responsibilities

• Design steel connections and structural components
• Undertake frame analysis of steel structures in temporary conditions
• Value engineer existing designs to improve efficiency and buildability
• Develop practical solutions tailored to individual project requirements
• Support and review the work of Graduate Engineers and junior team members
• Liaise with fabrication, drawing office and erection teams
• Work collaboratively with architects, consulting engineers and external stakeholders
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and project specifications

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Minimum 3 years’ experience designing steel structures and steel connections
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong IT and computer skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Desirable

• Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, with IStructE or ICE
• CAD experience
• Tekla experience would be advantageous
