As a Maintenance Duty Engineer, you’re not just maintaining the hotel’s physical safety and functionality – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.
Responsibilities
- Maintain hotel facilities: Ensure the safety, functionality, and upkeep of the property, including guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces
- Respond to service requests: Handle guest and team member maintenance requests promptly and efficiently, delivering a high standard of service
- Perform a variety of maintenance tasks: Carry out repairs across multiple disciplines, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance, ensuring appropriate use of PPE at all times
- Conduct preventive maintenance: Follow and support planned preventive maintenance programmes, regularly inspecting equipment and facilities to identify and address issues proactively
- Ensure compliance with regulations: Implement and adhere to all statutory and legal requirements, including fire safety, health and safety, hygiene, electricity at work regulations, COSHH guidelines, and local by‑laws
- Maintain documentation and reporting: Accurately record maintenance activities, inspections, and completed work, highlighting any outstanding issues for further action
- Support sustainability initiatives: Contribute to energy conservation efforts and support environmentally responsible practices across the property
- Build strong working relationships: Maintain effective communication with internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers to support smooth operations
- Commit to continuous development: Participate in relevant training to enhance skills, knowledge, and overall performance within the role
