We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Trading Standards Enforcement Officer to join our team in a role that’s both rewarding and impactful. You will work across a range of enforcement areas including unfair trading, intellectual property, vapes and tobacco, and product safety.

Responsibilities
- Support and undertake investigations, whether complaint‑led, project work or intelligence‑led.
- Take enforcement action and prepare cases for consideration by legal services.
- Handle competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards.
- Engage with critical issues, stay informed on current Trading Standards legislation, and contribute to making a difference in the community.
About You
- Hold a relevant TSQF qualification such as the Trading Standards Practitioner Certificate, CSCATS or DCA, or have relevant enforcement experience.
- Have a good understanding of a range of Trading Standards legislation and the ability to understand and interpret legislation and guidance.
- Understand local, regional and national priorities.
- Interact effectively with business and the public, and be confident exercising statutory powers, including preparing documents for court action where necessary.
- Work as a team player, collaborate with other offices and local authorities, and represent Luton in cross‑border project work and regional groups.
- Balance deadlines, meet targets, and stay organised under pressure.
- Understand equality issues and their impact on different ethnic groups.
- Proficient in MS Office products.
